Black-throated Mango

Anthracothorax nigricollis (Vieillot, 1817)

Black-throated Mango, Anthracothorax nigricollis, is a hummingbird of Middle America and South America, breeding from western Panama to north-eastern Argentina and Uruguay. It belongs to the Trochilidae family and was described by Vieillot in 1817. Its range also includes much of the continent beyond that breeding span, reaching Trinidad and Tobago and most mainland South American countries, with Chile excluded. It is a bird of lowland tropical country, using semi-open and open places such as gallery forest, shade coffee, cacao plantations, forest edges, parks and gardens. It is also found at higher elevations in some parts of its range.
