Pheugopedius atrogularis
The Black-throated Nightingale-Thrush is a medium-sized thrush found in the cloud forests of Central and South America. It has a distinctive black throat and chestnut-brown upperparts, with a white belly and undertail coverts. This species is known for its beautiful, flute-like song that echoes through the misty forests where it resides. It forages on the forest floor, feeding on insects, small fruits, and berries. The Black-throated Nightingale-Thrush is an important seed disperser in its habitat, contributing to the diversity of plant species. Despite its relatively wide distribution, threats such as habitat loss and fragmentation pose challenges to its long-term survival.
