Black-throated Prinia

Prinia atrogularis (Moore, F, 1854)

Black-throated Prinia, Prinia atrogularis, breeds in the eastern Himalayas and south-western China, within the Oriental Region. It is a bird of the family Cisticolidae and was described by Moore in 1854. It lives in scrub, open country, forest edges and clearings, usually between 900 and 2,800 m, though it has also been recorded lower and higher in winter. It is a large prinia with a very long tail. The throat is white outside the breeding season, but turns black then, with black marks spreading onto the breast.
