Black-throated Toucanet

Black-throated Toucanet, Aulacorhynchus atrogularis, is a toucan of montane forest in Peru and Bolivia, with its range also reaching Colombia, Ecuador and western Venezuela. It is mainly associated with humid mountain woodland, though it also uses forest edges, secondary growth, plantations and clearings with scattered trees. It is a non-migratory bird that often moves in small groups. Its diet includes fruits, terrestrial invertebrates and small vertebrate prey, and it feeds while perched in the middle to upper forest levels. It nests in tree cavities, and its breeding season varies across its range.
