Black Tinamou Tinamus osgoodi is a ground-dwelling bird of humid foothill and montane forest in South America, with breeding range in south Colombia and south-east Peru. It was described by Conover in 1949. This tinamou is stocky, with a short tail and rounded wings, and it is larger than other tinamous. Adults are mainly slate grey rather than black, with blue-grey legs and dark brown eyes. Its voice is a brief whistle that falls in pitch, and the first note matches that of the White-throated Tinamou.
