Black-winged Lory, Eos cyanogenia, is a bird of the islands around Geelvink Bay in north-west New Guinea, including Manim west of Numfor, Numfor, Biak and Meos Num west of Yapen. It was described by Bonaparte in 1850 and belongs to the Psittaculidae family within the Psittaciformes. Its range is tied to forest and coastal habitats, and it is also found in coconut trees. It is recognised by its bright red plumage, black shoulder, red iris, orange-red bill and violet patch behind the eye. The underwings are red, then yellowish with black tips.
