Pterodroma nigripennis (Rothschild, 1893)

Black-winged Petrel, Pterodroma nigripennis, is a petrel of the Pacific Ocean and breeds on islands from Lord Howe and Norfolk to New Caledonia, the Kermadec and Chatham Islands, Tonga, the Cook Islands, Bass Rock and Rapa. Outside the breeding season it ranges widely across ocean waters, reaching areas off south-eastern Australia, south-east of Japan, north-west Mexico, Central America, the Galápagos and Peru. It is a seabird in the family Procellariidae, first described by Rothschild in 1893.
