Blackish Pewee, Contopus nigrescens, is a passerine of the Tyrannidae family that breeds in Ecuador, Peru and eastern Amazonia. It was first described by Sclater and Salvin in 1880. In Ecuador it is tied to humid Andean montane forest, while in Peru it also uses the same forest type, and in eastern Amazonian Brazil it occurs in terra firme forest on foothills. It is a resident bird, and the nominate form is found on the eastern Andean slope in Ecuador, with another form recorded in Peru, Guyana and Brazil.
