Blackpoll Warbler

Setophaga striata (Forster, JR, 1772)

Blackpoll Warbler, Setophaga striata, breeds across northern North America from Alaska through eastern and south-eastern Canada to the north-eastern United States, and spends the non-breeding season in northern and central South America. It is a New World warbler. Breeding males are chiefly black and white, with a striking black cap, white cheeks and white wing bars. It nests in forests within its breeding range. In autumn it makes a long overwater migration south.
