Blue-and-black Tanager, Tangara vassorii, is a tanager of the Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia. It lives in montane evergreen forest, dwarf forest and secondary forest, and is found close to the tree line at high elevations. It is the highest-ranging Tangara species. Adults are mostly blue, with black on the face, wings and tail, and females are a little duller than males. The species was described by Boissonneau in 1840. Its breeding range runs across South America from Venezuela to Bolivia.
