Blue-backed Conebill

Conothraupis speculigera

The Blue-backed Conebill is a small passerine bird found in the Andes of South America. It is characterized by its striking blue back and bright yellow underparts. This species is often found in montane cloud forests, where it forages for insects and small fruits in the understory and mid-canopy. The Blue-backed Conebill is known for its melodious and varied song, which it uses to communicate and defend its territory. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to this species in the future.
