Blue-backed Parrot, Tanygnathus everetti, is a parrot of the Philippines in the Oriental Region. It was described by Tweeddale in 1877 and belongs to the Psittaculidae. It lives in tropical moist lowland forest. The species is now thought to have disappeared from much of its former range, including Negros, Panay, Leyte, Luzon and Polilio. Recent records come from Samar, Mindanao and Tawi-tawi. It is also known as Müller’s Parrot, and the Sulu form has been called Burbridge’s Parrot.
