Blue-bearded Bee-eater

The Blue-bearded Bee-eater is a striking bird found in Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive appearance with bright green plumage, a blue throat and chin, and a long, curved beak. These bee-eaters are known for their graceful aerial acrobatics as they catch insects in flight. They inhabit lowland forests, mangroves, and wooded areas near water bodies. The species is known for its communal roosting behavior, often gathering in large numbers during the non-breeding season. Blue-bearded Bee-eaters are important for maintaining ecological balance by controlling insect populations. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and deforestation, their conservation status is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
