Blue-bellied Roller, Coracias cyanogaster, breeds across Africa from Senegal to Guinea, east to south South Sudan and northern DR Congo. It is a resident bird, with only local seasonal movements, and it lives in mature moist savannah where Isoberlinia trees are common. A member of the roller family, it is a striking species with a very dark brown back and mainly blue plumage, while the head, neck and breast are buffy or chalky white. Adults also show tail streamers, and the young are duller than the grown birds.
