Blue-black Kingfisher, Todiramphus nigrocyaneus, is a kingfisher of New Guinea and the north-western satellite islands, where it lives in mangroves and forested streams in lowland areas. It is also recorded from Salawati, Batanta and Yapen. The bird is notable for its black face, blue crown and bright white throat. It is a medium-sized species in the family Alcedinidae, and it is hard to spot in the understory. It was described by Wallace in 1862.
