Blue-cheeked Amazon, Amazona dufresniana, is a parrot of South America, breeding in eastern Venezuela and the Guianas. It belongs to the family Psittacidae and was described by Shaw in 1812. The species is mainly green, with blue on the sides of the face and throat, yellow on the forehead and crown, and black-edged feathers on the nape and neck that create a scalloped look. The sexes are alike, and young birds resemble adults but show less blue on the head and a duller crown.
