Blue-chinned Sapphire

Chlorestes notata

The Blue-chinned Sapphire is a small hummingbird species found in South America, particularly in Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay. It is known for its vibrant iridescent blue throat and underparts, contrasting with its green upperparts. This species is often found in open woodland, forest edges, and gardens, where it feeds on nectar from flowers and small insects. The male Blue-chinned Sapphire is known for its distinctive courtship display, where it performs aerial acrobatics to attract a mate. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to its populations.
