Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot, Loriculus galgulus, is a parrot of the Oriental Region, breeding in the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo, together with many satellite islands. It belongs to the Old World Parrots and was described by Linnaeus in 1758. The bird is known for its blue crown, with adults also showing green plumage and a black bill. Males carry a red throat mark and a red rump edged with yellow on the lower back, while females are duller and lack the throat mark and yellow lower back.
