Blue-crowned Manakin

Lepidothrix coronata

The Blue-crowned Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. It is known for its striking blue crown and vibrant green plumage. The males perform elaborate courtship displays in leks, where they hop and dance to attract females. These birds feed on fruits, insects, and small arthropods. They are often found in the understory of mature forests, where they forage and breed. The Blue-crowned Manakin plays an important role in seed dispersal and insect control within its habitat.
