Blue-crowned Manakin

Lepidothrix coeruleocapilla

The Blue-crowned Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. This species is known for its vibrant blue crown and striking green plumage, with males displaying a bright red throat during courtship displays. Blue-crowned Manakins are highly energetic and agile, often observed performing elaborate courtship dances on specially cleared display perches. They primarily feed on fruits and insects, foraging in the lower levels of the forest. Their populations are generally stable, but they face threats from habitat loss and fragmentation. Conservation efforts are important to ensure the preservation of their forest habitats.
