Prioniturus discurus

The Blue-crowned Racket-tail is a small parrot species found in the Philippines. It has a vibrant green plumage with a distinct blue crown and a long, graduated tail. This species is known for its playful and social nature, often found in small flocks in forested areas. They are excellent flyers and are often seen darting through the canopy in search of fruits, seeds, and nectar. The Blue-crowned Racket-tail is known for its distinctive racket-shaped tail feathers, which are used in courtship displays. Despite being locally common, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade pose threats to its populations.
