Blue-eyed Cockatoo, Cacatua ophthalmica, lives in the lowland forests of New Britain in the south-eastern Bismarck Archipelago. It is the only cockatoo found there. This bird is mainly white and has a movable crest, a black bill and a pale blue ring of bare skin around each eye, which gives it its name. It is often confused with the yellow-crested and sulphur-crested cockatoos, but its crest is more rounded and shows more white at the front. The sexes look much the same. It was described by Sclater, PL, 1864.
