Cacatua ophthalmica
The Blue-eyed Cockatoo, scientifically known as Cacatua ophthalmica, is a stunning parrot species native to the rainforests of the Solomon Islands. These medium-sized cockatoos are known for their striking blue eye patches and vibrant white plumage. They are social birds, often seen in pairs or small flocks, and are known for their playful and intelligent behavior. Blue-eyed Cockatoos primarily feed on seeds, fruits, and nuts, and are important seed dispersers in their native habitat. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, they are facing population declines in the wild.
