Blue-eyed Ground Dove, Columbina cyanopis, breeds in south Brazil and is a bird of the Columbidae family. It lives in open savannah and grassland within the Brazilian cerrado, where it is tied to a very restricted range. Its blue eye, set in bare grey skin, is a striking feature. The male has purplish red on the head, neck, wing coverts, uppertail coverts and breast, with browner lower underparts and back. The female is paler, and the juvenile shows rufous feather edges and faint wing spotting.
