Blue-faced Parrotfinch

Erythrura trichroa (Kittlitz, 1833)

Blue-faced Parrotfinch, Erythrura trichroa, is a passerine in the waxbill family that breeds from montane Sulawesi to north-eastern Australia, Vanuatu and the Loyalty Islands in New Caledonia. It is found in subtropical and tropical moist forest, in both upland and lowland areas, and is most often linked with forest edges and disturbed places. In Australia it takes seeds from grasses, including several introduced genera, especially Brachiaria. It was described by Kittlitz in 1833.
