Blue-grey Gnatcatcher, Polioptila caerulea, breeds from south-eastern Canada through North America and Middle America to Nicaragua. It is a very small gnatcatcher and the only one that breeds in eastern North America. Its breeding places include open deciduous woodland and shrubland, and it also uses humid areas with broad-leaved cover, more open sandy ground with scattered trees, and similar habitats. The species nests on a horizontal branch, with both parents sharing nest building, incubation and feeding of the young. It can raise up to two broods in a season.
