Blue-headed Quail-Dove

The Blue-headed Quail-Dove, scientifically known as Starnoenas cyanocephala, is a small to medium-sized dove species found in the Caribbean. It is characterized by its striking blue head and neck, contrasting with its reddish-brown body. This elusive bird is known for its shy and secretive nature, often staying hidden in dense vegetation. The Blue-headed Quail-Dove is primarily a ground-dwelling bird, foraging for seeds, fruits, and insects in the forest understory. Its hauntingly beautiful call can be heard echoing through the forests of its range. Due to habitat loss and hunting pressure, the conservation status of this species is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
