Blue Noddy

Anous ceruleus (Bennett, FD, 1840)

Blue Noddy, Anous ceruleus, is a seabird of the Pacific Ocean, breeding on tropical islands from far south-east Japan and Micronesia to the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, the Marquesas and the Gambier Islands. It belongs to the family Laridae. It was first described by Frederick Debell Bennett in 1840. The species is also known as the blue-grey noddy, and it has been placed in Procelsterna in the past. It is 25–28 cm long and has a wingspan of 46–60 cm.
