Blue Nuthatch, Sitta azurea, is a nuthatch of the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Java in the Oriental Region. It is a member of the family Sittidae and was described by Lesson, RP, in 1830. It is notable for its striking plumage, which is unlike that of any other bird in its genus. The head is black or blackish blue, the upperparts are dark blue with azure tones, and the wings are edged in black. The throat and chest are white or washed buff, set against a very dark blue belly.
