Blue Pitta

Blue Pitta Hydrornis cyaneus is a bird of the Oriental Region, breeding in south-east Asia and living in forest across its range. It is a member of the Pittidae family and was described by Blyth in 1843. Its habitat includes moist evergreen forest, with bamboo, and it is also found in drier tropical forest. This shy, solitary bird is usually seen alone and forages on the ground. It is a forest species with a secretive nature, and its breeding range extends through south-east Asia.
