Blue-rumped Pitta, Hydrornis soror, is a bird of the Pittidae family that breeds in south-east Asia. Its range includes Cambodia, China, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. It lives in subtropical or tropical seasonal forest and in subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. Five subspecies are recognised, with forms recorded from south China and north Vietnam, Hainan, central Laos and north central Vietnam, south Laos and central and south Vietnam, and east Thailand and south Cambodia. It was described by Wardlaw-Ramsay in 1881.
