Blue-throated Barbet

Nok hualon

The Blue-throated Barbet (Megalaima asiatica), also known as Nok hualon, is a colorful bird found in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. This medium-sized barbet is known for its vibrant plumage, featuring a green body, red forehead, and a distinctive blue throat patch. It inhabits a variety of forested habitats, including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, as well as wooded areas near human settlements. Blue-throated Barbets are primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits and occasionally insects. They are known for their distinctive calls and can often be spotted perched on tree branches. While the conservation status of the Blue-throated Barbet is currently of Least Concern, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to its populations.
