Lampornis clemenciae (Lesson, RP, 1830)

Blue-throated Mountaingem, Lampornis clemenciae, is a hummingbird that breeds from south-western USA into central Mexico. It is the largest hummingbird found in the United States, and both sexes show a medium-length black bill, a white stripe behind the eye, and a second pale line running back from the bill corner beneath a dark cheek patch. Males have an iridescent blue throat, while females lack this feature. The species occurs in moist forest settings, including riparian, pine-oak and mixed coniferous woodland, and in Mexico it also uses coniferous forest.
