Blue-vented Hummingbird, Saucerottia hoffmanni, occurs in Middle America from western Nicaragua to central Costa Rica. It is a hummingbird in the family Trochilidae, first described by Cabanis and Heine in 1860. The species is treated as separate by most taxonomic systems, although some authorities still place it with the steely-vented hummingbird. It is monotypic. Its range covers semi-open country, including scrub, savanna, forest margins, secondary growth and gardens, and it is recorded from sea level up to 1,800 m.
