Bolivian cacique

Cacicus chrysonotus

The Bolivian cacique (Cacicus chrysonotus) is a striking bird native to the Amazon basin and the foothills of the Andes in South America. It is known for its distinctive black and bright yellow plumage, with a sharp, curved bill and a long tail. These social birds are often found in noisy flocks, foraging for fruits and insects in the canopy of tropical rainforests. They build intricate hanging nests from plant fibers and often form mixed-species foraging flocks with other bird species. The Bolivian cacique plays an important role in seed dispersal and is a key indicator of the health of its forest habitat.
