Carpodacus ferreorostris (Vigors, 1829)
Bonin Grosbeak, Carpodacus ferreorostris, was an extinct finch of the Bonin Islands in the Ogasawara Islands of south-eastern Japan. It was recorded only from Chichi-jima, with possible but unconfirmed presence on nearby islands in the same group. The bird was usually seen alone or in pairs and was noted for taking fruit and buds from the ground or low shrubs. It was also described as reluctant to fly. A soft, clear, high note is the only vocalisation recorded.
