Botha's Lark

Spizocorys fringillaris (Sundevall, 1850)

Botha's Lark, Spizocorys fringillaris, lives in high-altitude grasslands in ne South Africa. It is a lark in the family Alaudidae and was described by Sundevall in 1850. The bird is tied to short, heavily grazed grassland on dark clay soils, especially flat or gently sloping uplands. It is marked by a bold face pattern and a pinkish conical bill, with grey-brown upperparts, pale underparts, a streaked buff chest and streaking on the flanks that separates it from the pink-billed lark.
