Bottan's Magpie (Pica bottanensis) is a species of magpie found in the mountainous regions of Central Asia. It is known for its striking black and white plumage, with a long tail and distinctive markings. These intelligent birds are highly social and often form large flocks, displaying complex social behaviors and vocalizations. They are opportunistic omnivores, feeding on a variety of insects, small mammals, fruits, and seeds. Their habitat includes alpine meadows, coniferous forests, and rocky slopes, where they build intricate nests from twigs and branches. While not currently classified by the IUCN, their population may face threats from habitat loss and human disturbance.
