Boucard's Hummingbird

Boucard's Hummingbird (Chrysuronia boucardi) is a striking medium-sized hummingbird found in the highlands of Costa Rica and western Panama. The male has iridescent green upperparts, a glittering blue throat, and a bright rufous belly, while the female has a greenish-bronze upperparts and a white throat with dusky spots. This species is known for its remarkable agility and aerial acrobatics, often seen darting between flowers to feed on nectar. Boucard's Hummingbird is typically found in montane forests, forest edges, and gardens at elevations between 900 and 2500 meters. While not currently assessed by the IUCN, its population is believed to be stable within its limited range.
