Boyd's Shearwater

Puffinus boydi Mathews, 1912

Boyd's Shearwater, Puffinus boydi, is a Procellariidae bird that breeds in the Cape Verde Islands of the Atlantic Ocean, except Maio, with Sal now extinct as a breeding site. It was described by Mathews in 1912. Outside the breeding season it is rare in the Canary Islands, the north-west African coastal waters and the Amazon Reef near South America. It is a member of the Procellariiformes and is part of the shearwater group.
