Brambling

Fringilla montifringilla

The Brambling is a small passerine bird in the finch family. During the breeding season, males display striking black, orange, and white plumage, while females and non-breeding males have more subdued brown and buff colors. These birds are known for their extensive migrations, breeding in the northern forests of Eurasia and wintering in southern Europe and Asia. Bramblings prefer coniferous and mixed woodlands as breeding habitats, and can also be found in gardens and farmland during the winter. They forage on the ground for seeds and insects. The conservation status of the Brambling is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
