Branick's Antthrush

Odontorchilus branickii

Branick's Antthrush is a small, secretive bird found in the understory of humid montane forests in South America. This species is known for its distinctive song, a series of clear, piercing whistles. It forages on the forest floor, flipping leaf litter to uncover insects and small invertebrates. The plumage is primarily brown with subtle patterns, providing excellent camouflage among the forest debris. Despite its inconspicuous nature, the Branick's Antthrush plays a vital role in the forest ecosystem as a seed disperser and insect predator.
