Brazilian antbird

Cercomacra brasiliana

The Brazilian antbird (Cercomacra brasiliana) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. It has a distinctive black and white plumage with a bright red eye. This species is known for its unique foraging behavior, often following army ant swarms to feed on flushed insects. Brazilian antbirds are typically found in the understory of dense, humid forests, where they use their sharp calls to communicate and establish territories. Despite facing habitat loss and fragmentation, the Brazilian antbird remains locally common within its range.
