Brazilian Ruby, Heliodoxa rubricauda, is a hummingbird found in south-eastern Brazil, where it is endemic. It belongs to the family Trochilidae and is placed in the order Apodiformes. The species is most often recorded in forest interiors, scrub, parks and banana plantations, and it is also seen at feeders. It is mainly sedentary, though some birds make seasonal changes in elevation. The bird was described in 1783 by Boddaert.
