Brewer's Sparrow

Brewer's Sparrow, Spizella breweri, is a passerine of western North America, breeding in the west-central part of the continent and moving south to central Mexico in the non-breeding season. It is a member of the New World sparrows and was described by Cassin in 1856. In the breeding range it is linked with brushy country, especially sagebrush, and the northern form occurs in thickets near the tree line. It is also known for a pale eye-ring, a pale bill with a dark tip, and a long notched tail.
