Brewster's Pauraque is a species of nightjar found in Mexico and Central America. It is known for its cryptic plumage that provides excellent camouflage in its preferred woodland and forest habitats. This nocturnal bird is primarily insectivorous, using its wide gape to catch flying insects in mid-air. The Brewster's Pauraque is characterized by its distinctive call, a repetitive and far-carrying 'wuk-wuk-wuk' sound. It is a medium-sized bird with a wingspan of about 50-60 cm and a mottled brown and gray plumage that aids in its camouflage. Despite its relatively wide distribution, the conservation status of Brewster's Pauraque is currently assessed as 'Least Concern' by the IUCN due to its stable population and large range.
