Bridled Tern

Anous tenuirostris

The Bridled Tern (Anous tenuirostris) is a seabird found in tropical and subtropical oceans. It is known for its striking appearance, with a black cap and a distinct white crescent-shaped patch around its eye. The body is predominantly white with a grayish back and wings. Bridled Terns are highly aerial, spending most of their time in flight, often gliding gracefully over the ocean surface. They are skilled fishers, diving into the water to catch small fish and squid. These birds nest in large colonies on remote islands, laying a single egg in a shallow scrape on the ground. The Bridled Tern is a captivating sight in its natural oceanic habitat.
