Bridled White-eye

Zosterops conspicillatus (Kittlitz, 1833)

Zosteropidae — White-eyes

Bridled White-eye, Zosterops conspicillatus, is a passerine of the Mariana Islands in the Pacific Ocean, with breeding populations on Tinian, Saipan and Aguijan. It is a white-eye of tropical forests, shrublands and urban areas, and the form from Guam is extinct. Some authorities treat the Saipan population as a separate species, the Saipan white-eye. The nominate Guam form disappeared after the brown tree snake was introduced, with the last record in 1983. The remaining population is widespread in its native islands, and has also been established on Sarigan.
