Bristled Grassbird

Schoenicola striatus (Jerdon, 1841)

Bristled Grassbird, Schoenicola striatus, is a passerine of the family Locustellidae that breeds from north-east Pakistan to Bangladesh. It is found across the Indian subcontinent in a patchy pattern, including Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan. Also called the bristled grass warbler, it is associated with dense, tall grassland, especially in marshy places. The species was once thought to stay in one area throughout the year, but it may move south and east across the Indian peninsula in winter before returning to breeding areas in the northern plains south of the Himalayas.
