Broad-billed Parrot, Lophopsittacus mauritianus, lived on Mauritius in the Indian Ocean and was an extinct member of the Old World parrots. It was a Mascarene bird, known only from a handful of early descriptions and a few images. Its head was large for its body and carried a clear feather crest at the front. The bill was very large, and its bones show marked differences between males and females in both body and head size. It is thought to have flown weakly, though it was not flightless.
