Broad-billed Prion

Pachyptila crassirostris

The Broad-billed Prion (Pachyptila crassirostris) is a small seabird found in the Southern Ocean. It has a distinctive bill with a broad base, which is used for catching small fish and squid. This species is known for its graceful flight and can be seen gliding over the waves as it searches for food. Broad-billed Prions are colonial breeders, nesting in burrows on remote islands. They are highly adapted to a life at sea, spending most of their time on the wing or floating on the water. Their populations are currently stable, but they face potential threats from climate change and ocean pollution.
